COMMUNITY PROJECTS

The need for rural development in our Country is well recognised. It is widely recognised today that some developmental work can be best done by NGO's, voluntary groups, research institutions, individual scientists, engineers, and even laymen. Our efforts will be aimed at the following to obtain significant results.

Creation of jobs in the rural sector through programmes which
utilise local capitals, labour and raw  materials.
Planning and execution of programmes specially aimed at
helping the weaker sections, particularly women and backward
    classes.
Finding solutions specific to problems in the rural sector,
particularly those related to energy, environment, drinking water,
improved methods in crafts and agriculture etc.
  Conducting regular awareness programmes.

Poultry Farming

The traditional focus of rural development programmes has been on the following areas :

Poverty alleviation through creation of gainful employment.
Human resource development through provisions of health, education and employment within
     the villages.

The time has now come to look beyond the traditional concerns of rural development in this era of globalisation and aim for rural industrialisation. Eco-friendly and energy efficient technologies are now available to provide new thrust in this area. We need to bring in modern methods of planning, research and technology in the rural sector.

The island of research centres in big cities are often not aware of the needs of the rural sector, though, admittedly there are isolated examples. Yet the rural sector, which accounts for much

of the small scale sector (SSS) with a vast majority of the population and nearly half of the gross domestic product (GDP), offers challenging problems for the best researchers. The need for greater investment in research and development and also for extension work for the rural sector is strongly supported by us for following arguments:

   Employment generation
   Capital growth
Equity generation by stopping the migration from rural
     to urban area

Motivation of rural resources of capital and skill
   Decentralization of capital flow
